What times do you do portraits?
Portrait sessions are available in our state of the art studio in Dublin city centre thorughout the week and weekends. Weekend dates are the first to go, so do contact us if you have a specific date in mind. Alternatively, you may prefer an on environmental shoot at your own home or at a location unique to you.
How long does a photo shoot take?
We set aside 1.5 hours for each shoot, which may or may not take that long. It depends on the number of people in a shoot, the number of different combinations involved as well as the age groups. Young children may only have a 'window' of 20 minutes or may need a short break midway and we allow plenty of time so that it can be quite relaxed.
Do you offer black & white pictures?
We can do either colour or black & white pictures. Whilst all images are shot originally in colour, we may recommend the black and white or other options depending on the style of the images and your own preferences. We go through this in more detail at the viewing & ordering stage.
What is the best time of day for young children?
It’s important that children and babies are well rested and in good form. You know when your own children are at their best, so if you have made an appointment at a time when you don’t think they will be at their best, please rearrange your appointment time. We usually find that early mornings work best for the under 5s!
Other things about children
Please don’t make a big deal about your portrait shoot, it will have the opposite effect than the one you hope for. The more relaxed about the whole thing you are, the better children will be in the studio.
Please don’t say anything to children during their shoot, like "smile" or "don’t do that" etc. Just sit quietly and allow us to work with them. We are very patient work together to make them relaxed and have some fun with them.
What should I wear?
There are no right and wrong things to wear, but below are listed some helpful hints when planning for your portrait:
• Please make sure you clothes are new-ish, ironed and lint-free (fluff, dust, stray dog hairs etc)
• The simpler the outfit the better. Try to avoid big patterns, stripes, logos etc. These tend to distract the focus from the face in a portrait.
What do we do next?
We offer a consultation as the first stage to sit down and chat with you about what you are looking for - whether the shoot is for a particular occasion or perhpas just because it is important to mark a paricular time in your life/lives (such a new baby, full family together etc.).
What happens after the shoot?
We schedule a time for you come back and view the images from the shoot and place your order. We encourage you to make sure all decision makers are present and young children are looked after elsewhere - it's not as much for them! All the images taken are carefully edited and hand retouched, displayed to you on a large screeen to make it easy for you to select your favourites. We show you the options in terms of finish/frames/albums etc.
When will my order be ready?
Some pieces will involve a custom design which you may review before we complete it. Depending on the exact nature of your order, it will be ready in 4-6 weeks.
